It might be tough for some people to actually be satisfied and happy when starting their own business. Let’s see… First there are the expenditures; I mean there are just so many of them, and even things you wouldn’t even think to consider, like the amount of soap your staff use! Secondly, you are the boss, so everything that happens is your responsibility, and at the end of the day, no matter how many people you employ – it is all on you…. And thirdly (and perhaps most importantly!), work, work, work. If you are a traveler and enjoy evenings and weekends off, running a business is simply not for you. It is a commitment that requires the utmost attention, and constant engagement 24/7.
But, hey, once you’ve decided you’d like to be your own boss, get ready, because despite all the disadvantages, the advantages and joy completely outweigh them! I have been running my business for a couple of years now, and believe me, it wasn’t easy (especially at the beginning!). So many times I felt like giving up, but then I looked around and I stopped for a moment to think whether all of this was really so hard, and the answer was a resounding no… all because I realised that no matter the struggle – it is all worth it in the end. The satisfaction and joy I’ve felt from being my own boss and pursuing my own dreams has really cemented where I want to be in the future.
So, let me get straight to the point, it will be hard, and it will take a lot to make things work, but in the end it is more than worth it. Not only because you will not have anyone dictating you or bossing you around, but simply because you feel that what the business accomplished was down to you and you can go to bed feeling satisfied and fulfilled. It might sound cliché, but it is what it is!
Just imagine for a second, you’re an old man sat by the beach enjoying margaritas and your grandkids are running the empire you have built from scratch. Doesn’t that sound like an amazing future? So, come one, weigh up the dos and don’ts, but if you do decide to run a business, it will take blood, sweat and tears, but the reward will be so amazing, that you won’t even think of the struggle.
